I've tasted Grumpy Mule before, although not for a long time. Back then, I was a little underwhelmed - although to be fair, that was one of the weakest coffees in their range so it perhaps wasn't the best starting point for someone with my tastes.

It's taken quite a while, but finally I have some more Grumpy Mule to explore!

Peru Cafe Femenino is a Peruvian coffee produced with the support of the Cafe Femenino Project, a non-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the lives of women and families in the coffee-producing communities.

The grounds have a fruity aroma; sweet citrus with some milk chocolate underneath. There's an earthy, woodland edge too, with damp leaves and old wood.

Brewed, the citrus becomes sharper, more acidic and less sweet. At the same time, the chocolate notes are drier, closer to cocoa powder.

In the mouth it's a proper coffee - a decent body, a nice creaminess with a touch of chocolate, and a tart, acidic bite that lingers but doesn't dominate. There a little hints of cherries in the background, but this isn't a fruity coffee - it's just a nice, very drinkable daily mug.

Not just for duvet days, this is for every day. 4.5 stars.
