After being so impressed by Decadent's Kenya coffee, I resolved to explore their stronger offerings. After all, if it tastes as good as a regular, caffeinated coffee then there's no harm in having a good decaf in the cupboard for those days that call for mug after mug!

Decadent Decaf have a small but decent range; having started with their weakest it seemed only fair to go to the other extreme.

Indonesia Sumatra Mandheling is their strongest single-origin coffee, ranked a strength 5 (as opposed to the Kenya's strength of 3).

The grounds are quite light in colour – closer to a quality milk chocolate than the darker, richer roasts you normally associate with higher strength coffee.

The aroma is rich, with warm sweet cocoa, blackberries and old, polished wood. Brewed, the chocolate is less apparent, but it's still full of woodland fruit.

In the mouth, it's medium bodies, gently sweet with acidic blackcurrants that slowly slip into a well controlled, tannic finish. There's a slightly over-lingering acidic note in that finish, but once again there's definitely no feeling that you're missing anything with the absent caffeine.

Overall, a very decent coffee, with enough punch to please me. The slightly off finish knocks it back to 3.5 stars, but I'd still happily keep it in stock.
