A little late this week, and back to Africa for some Yirgacheffe from a coffee co-operative called Revolver World. At this stage, I’d like to talk a little more about the co-operative but at the time of writing, their website has been down for some weeks so I don’t have much more information than their name!

The grounds are quite gentle, with a sweet, faintly citrus aroma and touches of light toffee. Below are subtle hints of old, worn wood. Brewed, the citrus character comes through in force, with sugar-sweetened grapefruit sharpness.
In the mouth it’s light, with a subtle honey sweetness slightly overwhelmed by the acidity and a drying tannic finish.
It’s delicate, but refreshing – definitely an afternoon coffee. 3 stars.
Many thanks to the Fairtrade Foundation for providing this sample.
