Twelve Beers Of Christmas: Leikeim Wintertraum

Beer Review

This is the beer I got as my Secret Santa at the CAMRGB Twissup in London, so thank you very much to some kind soul!

This is Leikreim’s Wintertraum, which my questionable German translates as “Winter Dream”.

It’s a gloriously clear golden colour in the glass with a lingering, fine bubbled head on it. There’s definitely a hint of spice to the nose, along with grain and a faintly green, leafy edge.

It’s curious in the mouth; some nice champagne bubbles, quite a rich but pale malty backbone with some tart summer berry fruit and a very nice bitter finish that doesn’t entirely erase that malt sweetness.

It’s rather tasty, although I don’t personally find it very wintery.

I live in Germany and can confirm your translation. The reason it’s been given a wintery name is because it’s only available during the winter months. I’m enjoying a glass right now.
